Convert AutoCAD drawings (DWG, DXF, DWF) into PDFs anyone can open — coming soon.
This conversion needs specialised processing that we can't run privately in your browser yet, so the tool isn't available today. Here's what it will do when it launches — and what you can use right now.
The most-requested tools are built first.
Architects, engineers, and contractors live in CAD files — but most of the people they work with don't. Clients, site managers, planning offices, and suppliers usually need drawings as PDFs they can open on any laptop or phone, measure, mark up, and print. PDFDoco's CAD to PDF tool will convert AutoCAD DWG, DXF, and DWF drawings into clean, vector PDFs. It's currently in development; this page explains what it will do and how to share drawings in the meantime.
DWG, DXF, DWF or DWFx files from AutoCAD and compatible CAD software.
Plot model space or any paper-space layout, with the paper size you need.
Keep plotted line weights or use a uniform thin line for clarity.
Lines and text stay crisp at any zoom, ideal for printing and review.
PDFs keep geometry as vectors, so drawings stay sharp when zoomed or printed.
Paper-space layouts keep their plot scale for accurate printing.
Anyone can open a PDF — no CAD software or viewer installs required.
DWG is AutoCAD's native format and the most common way drawings are stored and exchanged. DXF is Autodesk's open interchange format, used to move drawings between different CAD programs, laser cutters, and CNC tools. DWF (and DWFx) is a compact publishing format designed for viewing and markup rather than editing. All three describe precise geometry that needs a CAD engine to render correctly.
Rendering a CAD drawing faithfully means interpreting fonts, line types, hatches, external references, layouts, and plot styles — the same work a full CAD application does. Doing that reliably requires specialised rendering engines that don't run in a web browser. Rather than offer a tool that produces broken drawings, we're building it properly on secure servers, with files deleted immediately after conversion.
Most CAD applications can plot directly to PDF: in AutoCAD, use Plot or Publish with the "DWG To PDF" plotter, choose your layout and paper size, and save. Free viewers such as Autodesk Viewer can also open DWG files online. If you only have images of your drawings, our Image to PDF tool combines them into a single document, and Resize PDF can switch an existing plot to A3, Tabloid, or another sheet size.
Plot from a paper-space layout rather than model space whenever possible — layouts carry the title block, viewport scale, and sheet size your team expects. Check that line weights are enabled so walls and annotations are visually distinct, and use monochrome plot styles for drawings that will be printed in black and white.

Not yet. It's in development because accurate CAD rendering needs specialised server software. This page will become the working tool when it launches.
AutoCAD DWG, DXF interchange files, and DWF/DWFx publishing files from AutoCAD and compatible CAD applications.
Use your CAD application's built-in PDF plotter (in AutoCAD, Plot with the DWG To PDF driver), or open the file in a free online DWG viewer and print to PDF.
Vector. Lines, arcs, and text will stay sharp at any zoom level and print crisply at full size.
When the tool launches, files will be processed over an encrypted connection and deleted immediately after conversion.
That's a different and much harder conversion. It isn't planned for this tool, which focuses on producing high-quality PDFs from CAD drawings.
